Review Policy

Kalyani Sishu Barta follows a transparent, inclusive, and age-appropriate review process to maintain the integrity and quality of all published content. Our goal is to nurture creativity, encourage original thinking, and provide a platform where children can express themselves freely while also learning and growing through constructive feedback.

As a journal dedicated to children’s voices, we are mindful of their developmental stage, emotional wellbeing, and educational value in every piece we review.

Child-Centered Review Philosophy

  • The review process is gentle, encouraging, and non-rejectional in tone.
  • Every submission is treated with respect and appreciation, regardless of the child's background, ability, or level of writing/artistic skill.
  • The primary goal of our review process is not only selection but also learning and motivation for the child contributor.

Who Reviews the Content?

Each submission is assessed based on the following criteria:

  • Originality: Is the work created independently by the child? Does it avoid copying or plagiarism?
  • Clarity and Expression: Does the work demonstrate clear, age-appropriate thinking and communication?
  • Creativity: Is the idea unique, imaginative, or thought-provoking? Does it show creative thinking or a fresh perspective?
  • Educational Value: Does the work convey a positive message, encourage learning, or provide meaningful insight?
  • Suitability: Is the content appropriate for children aged 6–14? Is the language, theme, and presentation suitable for this audience?

We do not expect perfection — we celebrate effort, enthusiasm, and the joy of expression!

Feedback to Contributors

  • Submissions selected for publication may receive a brief editor’s note or appreciation message.
  • If a piece is not selected immediately, we never use the word “rejected” — instead, we provide constructive, friendly feedback and encourage the child to revise and resubmit.
  • Wherever possible, we guide the child (through parents/teachers) with gentle suggestions for improvement.

Submission Ethics and Parental Consent

  • Every submission must be the child’s original work.
  • Plagiarism, AI-generated content, or copied material will not be considered.
  • A parental/guardian consent form must be submitted along with the child’s work.
  • For classroom submissions, teacher verification may also be accepted.

Diversity and Inclusion in Review

  • We actively encourage submissions from children of all regions, languages, learning abilities, and backgrounds.
  • Our reviewers are trained to appreciate and understand regional expression, multilingual creativity, and culturally specific narratives.
  • We do not discriminate based on gender, religion, socioeconomic background, or learning level.

Review Timeline

  • All submissions are typically reviewed within 2 to 3 weeks of receipt.
  • Selected submissions may be scheduled for upcoming issues based on theme and space.
  • If there is a delay, our team communicates the status to the parent/guardian.

Communication with Parents and Guardians
  • All review feedback is shared respectfully through the contact details provided by the parent/guardian.
  • Editors may reach out for clarification, additional input, or revisions.
  • We encourage a positive partnership with parents and teachers to support the child’s creative journey.

Resubmission Policy

  • Children are encouraged to revise and resubmit improved versions of their work based on feedback.
  • There is no limit to how many times a child can contribute. Enthusiasm and persistence are celebrated!

Policy Updates

This review policy is periodically revised to reflect new educational insights, publishing standards, and feedback from contributors. Any updates will be posted on the official website.
